The CEO of VanEck, an investment management firm, revealed that retail investors have been the main contributors to the success of spot Bitcoin ETFs since their launch four months ago.

While these ETFs have attracted significant capital, traditional banks and institutional investors have yet to enter the market.

Jan van Eck, the CEO, expressed surprise at the initial success of the ETFs, but noted that the inflows have primarily come from retail investors rather than traditional finance players.

He added that no U.S. banks have officially approved or recommended Bitcoin to their clients. Van Eck expects that institutional investments will start pouring in soon, but believes that the Bitcoin ETF landscape is still in its early stages of development.

When asked why investors prefer Bitcoin ETFs over directly buying and managing BTC, van Eck mentioned convenience, safety, and affordability as key factors.

He highlighted the lower spreads and fees associated with ETFs compared to centralized exchange platforms.

VanEck, founded in 1955, has a long history of understanding emerging assets, and van Eck sees Bitcoin as a complementary addition to investors' portfolios.

He believes that Bitcoin may even be a better store of value than gold in contemporary times.

However, van Eck emphasized that the impact of Bitcoin ETFs on the market should not be overstated, as the Bitcoin market is global and influenced by various factors beyond the ETFs.
