Taiko is an Ethereum-equivalent (Type 1) ZK-EVM that is maximally compatible with Ethereum.

It doesn’t require additional compiling, reaudits, or tooling. Taiko is a based rollup, meaning the transaction sequencing on Taiko is done by Ethereum validators. This design ensures robust security guarantees from the base layer.

Taiko uses the Based Contestable Rollup (BCR). It is a rollup that features contestation and uses based sequencing. Base Rollup means L1 validators could be L2 proposers or sequencers.
