Friend.Tech announces plan to move from Base to its own blockchain called “Friendchain" and uses FRIEND tokens for gas fees

Friend.tech, a decentralized social media platform, has announced its departure from Base layer-2 to develop its own blockchain network called “Friendchain.”

This initiative is a collaboration with Conduit and aims to use the FRIEND token as a transferable gas token.

The announcement makes FRIEND token 24 hours price surge 10%.

The decision to create Friendchain has sparked mixed reactions within the community.

While some view it as a natural progression for successful decentralized applications, others are concerned it might hinder growth by isolating the platform from established ecosystems like Base and Solana.
