Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a
decentralized protocol on the Ethereum network that allows users to register
and manage human-readable names for their Ethereum addresses and other
blockchain resources. ENS names are similar to domain names, but they are more
secure, censorship-resistant and interoperable with various applications and
platforms. ENS names can also be used to store metadata, such as profile
information, social media links, avatars and more. ENS aims to make the
Ethereum ecosystem more accessible and user-friendly by providing a simple and
intuitive way to interact with blockchain-based services and assets.
Ethereum Name Service (ENS) transforms
Ethereum's long, hard-to-remember address into a human-friendly domain name
that ends with an .eth such as vitalik.eth, nick.eth. The first half of 2022. Domain name registrations
through ENS have surpassed 1,000,000 domains and currently ENS has 2.77 million
registered domain names.
