The Appellate Court of Montenegro overturned a lower court's decision to extradite Do Kwon to the United States.

The Appellate Court of Montenegro ordered on Mar 5, 2024 to revoke the decision of High Court of the Podgorica approving Kwon's extradition to the United States. According to the official statement.

As specified by the court the High Court in Podgorica previously granted Do Kwon's extradition to the United States for the purpose of criminal prosecution for various crimes on Feb 20, 2024.

The Appellate Court argued that the previous order of the High Court in Podgorica was there is no clear and valid basis for this decisive fact, the committee said in its announcement.

The Appellate Court of Montenegro’s latest decision marks another milestone in the long history of Do Kwon's extradition proceedings after his arrest in Montenegro in March 2023, which both the United States and South Korea want Do Kwon’s extradition and request for Kwon to be extradited.

This has led to a major debate over whether the Terraform Labs founder should be sent to his home country.

The Appellate Court of Montenegro  had previously canceled approval of Kwon's extradition to the United States or South Korea in December 2023, arguing that the case should be sent back to to the Podgorica Basic Court for retrial.
