CFTC charged Uniswap Labs for offering illegal digital asset derivatives trading and fined Uniswap Labs $175,000 to settle the allegation

On September 4, 2024, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has charged Uniswap Labs with offering illegal derivatives trading. Uniswap Labs has agreed to pay a $175,000 fine to settle these charges.

“The order finds UniswapLabs illegally offered leveraged or margined retail commodity transactions indigital assets via a decentralized digital asset trading protocol. The order requires Uniswap Labs to pay a $175,000 civil monetarypenalty”. 
 

The CFTC found that Uniswap Labs offered leveraged or margined commodity transactions in digital assets, which were not compliant with the Commodity Exchange Act.
