Binance announced on August 8, 2024, that
it had recovered or frozen over $73 million in user funds from external hacks and stolen funds between January 1 and July 31, 2024.
These funds were primarily recovered
from various hacks, scams, and exploits that occurred throughout the year.
This amount already surpasses the $55
million recovered throughout the entire 2023, reflecting Binance's increased
focus on combating crypto-related crime.
These proactive efforts help Binance
recovered lost digital funds, with about 80% related to external exploits.
The recovered assets include
significant amounts linked to high-profile incidents like the hack of Ripple
co-founder Chris Larsen's accounts and the BtcTurk hack.
This recovery is part of Binance’s
ongoing efforts to combat theft and secure assets against external exploits.
