Ripple was founded in
2012 by Chris Larsen and Jed McCaleb, they created a total of 100 billion XRP
tokens. All of XRP tokens are premined.
From 100 billion max supply. 20 billion XRP went to the founders including founders Arthur Britto, Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen.
80 billion XRP went to
Ripple Labs. XRP is a cryptocurrency that has been created to sell to the
public including individuals and companies.
XRP tokens can be used
for international remittance.

The U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission sued Ripple in December 2020. It accused Ripple
Labs Inc and its current and former chief executives of conducting a $1.3
billion unregistered securities offering by selling XRP.
On July 13, U.S. judge ruled that Ripple's sale of XRP tokens to individual investors on public crypto
exchanges did not violate securities law. But Ripple's sale of XRP tokens to
institution investors violated securities law.
