Polygon zkEVM Dragon Fruit Upgrade Will Catch Up With The Latest Version Of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)

Polygon zkEVM new upgrade called “Dragon Fruit” is schedule to go live on September 11, 2023. Polygon has completed zkEVM mainnet test and the new update now ready to go live.

 

Dragon Fruit (also known as ForkID5) will introduce the latest EVM opcode PUSH0. It will make Polygon zkEVM compatible with Solidity v0.8.21.

 

PUSH0 is the latest version of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) opcode. It is a part of the Shanghai hard fork and EIP-3855.

 

The Dragon Fruit upgrade includes the latest EVM opcode PUSH0, making Polygon zkEVM compatible with Solidity v0.8.21.

 

The upgrade will ensure that Polygon zkEVM will catch up with latest version of Solidity.

 

According to Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon co-founder. MATIC token will be replaced with POL. POL will be used for staking to run validator nodes on all Polygon ecosystem such Polygon PoS and Polygon zkEVM.

 

Right now, Sandeep Nailwal put emphasis on the development of Polygon zkEVM because it is a layer 2 that can process ETH transactions and it also support the use of dApps.
