Cardano Summit 2023, IOG
founder & CEO Charles Hoskinson outlined
a new way to build interoperability with Cardano blockchain.
According to Hoskinson
Cardano blockchain has the Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL) and the Cardano Computation Layer (CCL). CSL responsible for the main chain and CCL
responsible for the sidechain.
IOG the developer of
Cardano blockchain is building a partner chain that is interoperable with
Cardano main chain. Charles Hoskinson chooses Substrate technology from
Polkadot to build partner chain. Substrate is open source-code of Polkadot SDK.
Substrate is a
blockchain source-code created by Polkadot founder Gavin Wood. You can build a
new blockchain from it and place specialize logic and functionalities of a
blockchain using Substrate and you don’t have to write a whole new blockchain
from the ground up that’s take too much work.
According to an article
published by IOHK.
“With partner chains,
Cardano becomes the ultimate settlement layer.”
“The CSL has proven to be
robust and scalable, forming the ultimate cross-chain settlement layer. With
partner chains, networks will have the power to build their own computation
layer leveraging a modular framework and existing components, yet still leveraging
the CSL for settlement across chains.”
Developers and
validators can build partner chains that are independent, interoperable, layer
1 blockchain that can connect to Cardano’s main chain.
Partner chains
use modular blockchain technology with
Cardano’s proven security, liquidity, and reliability. With partner
chains, developers will have the power to build their own computation layer
leveraging a modular framework and existing components, while maintain
leveraging the CSL for settlement across chains.
Polkadot announced on X
(Twitter) that Cardano’s partner chain project is
showing Substrate's potential to expand across Web3, and showing that Substrate
is easy to use for other blockchains.
