Avalanche has mainnet and Subnets.
Avalanche mainnet is 2nd generation blockchain similar to Ethereum. A
Subnet is 3rd generation blockchain that allows developers to
develop their own custom blockchains without the need to write a lot of
codes. Subnets also support virtual machine to create dApps. Subnets is similar to Cosmos SDK.
Avalanche is developing a hyper-scalable
Subnets called HypderSDK. Patrick O’Grady is the head of engineering. HyperSDK
can reach 100,000 transactions per second.
According to the recent testnet
HyperSDK can process 143,322 transactions per second. Compare to Avalanche mainnet
and Avalanche Subnets that currently can process 4,500 transactions per second.
In a real-world application the number of
TPS is less than 143,322 TPS. We need to wait for HyperSDK to be officially
launch in order to see the real number of TPS. But Avalanche developers confirm
that HypderSDK can process up to 50,000 TPS.
In the future developers can create custom blockchains using HyderSDK that has been developed by Avalanche. Creating a custom blockchain using HyperSDK takes a few days, compare to writing codes from scratch can take many months to finish.
