Uniswap Foundation’s Bridge Assessment Committee selected Wormhole and Axelar for cross-chain bridges on Uniswap. Wormhole, Celer, DeBridge, LayerZero, Axelar, and Multichain (CRP) are contenders for cross-chain selection. Finally, from rigorous assessments Uniswap committee selected Wormhole and Axelar. 

Uniswap has $3.85 billion total value locked. It supports 6 blockchains including Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, Celo, and BNB Chain.

Axelar will benefit from joining Uniswap as Axelar has it own tokens called AXL. AXL tokens are governance tokens that allow users to stake the tokens to vote on proposals. AXL is 174^th largest crypto by market cap, it has fully diluted market cap of $412 million.
