Sony Interactive Entertainment, a company that produces the hugely popular PlayStation consoles and has released several popular video games, has filed a patent application for NFT to try to give in-game content more flexibility.
The company states that it wants gamers to be able to use NFT in games and platforms, including games produced by rival console manufacturers Microsoft and Nintendo, whereby NFT ownership may be subsequently transferred to other [users] ... for their own use in simulations and/or platforms."
Sony agrees that neither in-game digital assets nor NFTs can prove that this is a pivotal moment in the evolution of the game.
Sony's filing also represents the aim of enabling NFT to work with "VR, AR, smartphone, tablet, computer, and television headsets.
Sony filedan NFT patent last November. however, the patent appears to have been rejected
for failing to "integrate abstract concepts into practical
applications," the company said, exploring the use of blockchain
technology for music copyright management and education.
