Internet in the world uses fiber optic
technology. But Elon Musk wants to build satellites that deliver broadband
internet to Earth. Starlink is a low orbit satellite that can provide high
speed internet. The satellites generate power from solar panels. Starlink aims
to put at least 12,000 satellites to orbit around the Earth. They work by
delivering broadband internet to Earth and they can send information to nearby
Satellites which enable an information to send from one area to another area on Earth. Sending an information from New York to London takes 55 milliseconds
via fiber optic, it takes 45 milliseconds via Starlink.
Starlink is testing an internet service that will cover almost everywhere on Earth. It’s called Global Roaming Service. It will cost $200 per month but new users are required to buy additional Starlink Kit for $599. Although $200 per month might be expensive, but the price will be cheaper in the future. Starlink users will receive high speed internet from low latency satellites. Starlink Kit hardware can be refunded within 30 days and internet subscription can be canceled any time. Currently, Starlink only accepts payment in US dollar. Satellite internet will benefit recreational vehicles, recreational boats, airplanes, and ships.
