BNB Chain Plans To Upgrade Network To Layer-2 Using zkBNB Rollups

As of February 7, 2023 Binance Smart Chain has 908,207 daily active users and transaction per day of $3.278 million. Binance development team sees the benefits of layer 2 solution like rollups. Rollups can increase the number of transactions by offloading transaction off from Mainnet. Transactions from rollups will ultimately be reconciled and secured on base blockchain. BSC will use zkRollups for layer-2 solution.

zkBNB using Zero Knowledge Rollup technology (ZK) and implements layer-2 solution using Zero Knowledge Rollup architecture to solve scalability problem. Binance will propose BEP100 standard to add sidechain capability to the network. zkBNB can process 10,000 transactions per second. BNB wants to increase competitiveness, as Polygon, Optimism, and Arbitrum are enhancing the Ethereum network. Binance aims to launch zkBNB Rollups within this year.
